Jindy Beat Mudchooks
[ Saturday, 21 April 2012 ]

The Mudchooks were decisively beaten 7-32 by a bigger and faster Jindabyne team in the first home game of the 2012 season.

The Mudchooks played with more aggression and strength at the breakdown than they showed in last week’s match, but this week the team gave away too many penalties and missed too many tackles to allow the Jindabyne Bushpigs to score five tries to one.

The Mudchooks started well and new recruit Scott Hancock was unlucky not to score a try in the first few minutes of the match, but the Bungendore players squandered some good attacking moves when they gave away seven penalties during the first 20 minutes which enabled Jindabyne to get on top of them. The Bushpigs then scored three tries in the next 20 minutes to lead 20 – 0 at half time.

Jindabyne scored a try three minutes into the second half and another midway through the second half after Bungendore lost their reserve prop and were forced to play with uncontested scrums. However, despite the relenting pressure that they endured, the Mudchooks showed plenty of spirit and never gave up to be finally rewarded with try to Simon Rolfe right on full time.

Tymlock Fencing 3 points – Roy Watson; Bungendore Rural Services 2 points - Jason Brodrick; Royal Hotel 1 point – Jake Hodgson; Bungendore Community Bank coach’s award Scott Hancock; Chicks Pick – Will Turner.

The Mudchooks play their next match against Crookwell at Crookwell on 28 April, with a 2:30pm kick off.
