Mudchooks v Crookwell
[ Saturday, 28 July 2012 ]
The Mudchooks were unlucky to lose 15-22 against Crookwell at Crookwell last weekend. Both teams scored three tries each, so it was the two conversions and one penalty goal that Crookwell kicked that put them ahead at full time. But the match could have easily been won by Bungendore because on at least six separate occasions the Mudchooks went within a whisker of scoring tries, but failed on the line to get the ball down.
Crookwell started the match at a furious pace, putting enormous pressure on the Mudchooks from the initial kick-off before scoring a converted try nine minutes into the game. However, Luke Payten showed his brilliance with a try to the Mudchooks three minutes later and the crowd knew they were in for an entertaining game. The Mudchooks played a very aggressive game, but for some reason the players could not hold onto the ball when they were tackled, so possession was lost at a number of critical times during the game. Sandy Beggs and Kane Perry eventually scored a try each, but it was a game that got away for the Mudchooks.
Tymlock Fencing 3 points – Damon Wildsoet; Bungendore Rural Services 2 points – Will Turner; Royal Hotel 1 point – Luke Payten; Bungendore Community Bank coach’s award – Eddie Mitford-Burgess; Chicks’ Pick – Adam Stevens.
The Mudchooks’ next game will be against Taralga at Bungendore on 4 August. Taralga has beaten the Mudchooks in both previous games this season, so we are hoping that plenty of supporters come to the game to help cheer the Mudchooks to a win.
