Mudchooks beaten in thriller
[ Saturday, 27 April 2013 ]
The Bungendore Mudchooks began Saturday’s game with a celebration for long serving prop Adam “Boggo” Stevens who played his 100th game for the Bungendore club in front of a home crowd on sponsor’s day.
From the kickoff it was clear that Crookwell meant business with a nonstop barrage of attack on the Mudchooks line until the 5th minute when they crossed for the first try of the match. Not to be outdone, the Mudchooks quickly responded with a great try by big Steven Gerlach.
Crookwell continued their attack throughout the entire second half scoring a further 2 tries, but Bungendore held on with a long distance try to Scott Bakos in the final play of the half taking the score to 12-17 thanks to the conversion by Aaron Williams.
The second half began much like the first with Crookwell scoring early within the first 5 minutes. Both teams then traded blows with Bungendore replying quickly with some great running by Braidwood convert John Steele. The tries continued for Crookwell, but the Mudchooks answered each try with one of their own thanks to Aaron Williams and Nathan Moffitt. Unfortunately Bungendore left their run too late with Crookwell finishing the day winners 38-31 with a total of 11 tries being scored on the day.
